GROOMING POLICIES & TERMS
Our Commitment
Your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priority. We take every precaution to ensure a calm, professional grooming experience while maintaining the highest standards of care.
Health & Medical Disclosure
- Owners must inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, injuries, sensitivities, or behavioral concerns prior to the appointment.
- This includes (but is not limited to): seizures, diabetes, arthritis, heart conditions, anxiety, asthma, recent surgeries, or skin issues.
- Failure to disclose relevant health or behavioral information may increase risk during grooming.
Vaccination Requirement
- For the safety of all pets, vaccinations should be up to date.
- If an unvaccinated pet is presented for grooming, the owner assumes all associated risks.
Behavior & Safety
- Pets must be able to be handled safely.
- If a pet becomes aggressive, highly stressed, or unsafe to groom, the session may be stopped at our discretion.
- Owners will be charged only for services completed up to that point.
Grooming Risks
- Grooming tools (clippers, scissors, nail trimmers) are sharp instruments. Minor nicks or irritation may occur, particularly if a pet moves suddenly or has sensitive skin.
- Severely matted coats may hide underlying skin conditions. Removing matting can sometimes reveal or aggravate pre-existing irritation.
- Grooming may occasionally expose underlying medical conditions that were not previously visible.
Owners acknowledge these inherent risks and agree that reasonable care will be taken throughout the grooming process.
Matted Coats
- Severely matted pets may require a close shave for humane removal.
- Shaving a heavily matted coat may reveal redness, irritation, sores, or skin sensitivity that existed beneath the matting.
- In such cases, we are not responsible for pre-existing skin conditions uncovered during grooming.
Low Cut / Close Shave Requests
- A very short cut may temporarily alter your pet’s behavior or comfort level as they adjust to the new coat length.
- By requesting a close shave, owners acknowledge this possibility.
Anal Gland Expression
- External anal gland expression may be performed during grooming.
- Persistent irritation may indicate an underlying medical condition, and veterinary consultation may be recommended.
Emergencies
- In the event of illness or injury during grooming, we will make every effort to contact the owner immediately.
- If the owner cannot be reached and urgent care is required, we are authorized to seek veterinary treatment at the owner’s expense.
Transportation (If Applicable)
- Pet transportation services are available at an additional cost.
- While we take every precaution, transportation carries inherent risks, which the owner acknowledges.
Media Release
- We may photograph or record pets during grooming for promotional purposes.
- If you prefer that your pet not be featured, please notify us prior to the appointment.
Liability Acknowledgment
By scheduling grooming services, the owner acknowledges that grooming involves inherent risks and agrees not to hold Franz Pets Retreat liable for issues arising from pre-existing conditions, undisclosed medical concerns, or normal grooming-related sensitivities.
